NJ Nightclub Shooters Sentenced

Two men from East Orange have been sentenced for their role in an August 2022 shooting at Menga Lounge in Linden, authorities said.

Najir Paige, 29, and Sharif Evans, 26, were sentenced on Friday, Dec. 8 for the shooting, which left three people injured, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Linden Police Chief David Hart said.

On Aug. 6, 2022, following a dispute at the bar, Paige retrieved a handgun from Evans' vehicle and fired numerous rounds into the establishment through the front door, authorities said. 

A 28-year-old man, 24-year-old woman and 23-year-old woman were injured in the attack. Paige was later captured with help from the U.S. Marshals Service.

Paige was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated assault while Evans was sentenced to three years of probation and given credit for time served after pleading guilty to hindering apprehension, after he tried to hide the vehicle involved, authorities said.
